BELGRADE - It was a once-in-a-lifetime coincidence when an earthquake rumbled Belgrade while students were practicing for that very event.
Belgrade High School Principal Paul Lamb says the entire district was holding an earthquake drill this morning, when the U.S. Geological Survey reports that a 3.3 magnitude earthquake hit Gallatin County.
The earthquake started at 10:46 AM and originated 1 kilometer northwest of Manhattan and 5 km below the earth's surface, the USGS says.
Belgrade residents report feeling the quake, although it was fairly minor.
No damage has been reported at press time.
