Eugene police arrest suspect in shooting near school after 12-hour manhunt

A nearly 12-hour manhunt ended late Tuesday night with the arrest of a 17-year old boy suspected of shooting another person outside a Eugene middle school.

A Eugene police spokeswoman provided no further details about the suspect or his arrest after she announced it about 9:45 p.m.

The incident that paralyzed areas near two schools began shortly after 10 a.m. when the shooting was reported near Monroe Middle School in Eugene's Harlow neighborhood.

The shooting did not involve the middle school at 2800 Bailey Lane in the Harlow area.

After a nearly four-hour siege outside a home on Mill Alley, police said shortly before 10 p.m. that the 17-year-old shooting suspect had been arrested.
