The fiercely anti-American former president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, quoted gangster rap legend Tupac Shakur on Monday to criticize the U.S. government on the anniversary of the founding of the Black Panther Party.
The former Iranian president’s criticism of the United States government comes amid looming U.S. sanctions expected to cripple Iran’s economy further.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took action today against a vast network of businesses providing financial support to the Basij Resistance Force (Basij), a paramilitary force subordinate to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The Treasury Department targeted the Basij Resistance Force’s complex network of intermediary companies and financial institutions used to fund its violent domestic and regional activities.
