Several people were hurt on Fat Tuesday when a float crashed into a phone line and then collapsed onto the riders in New Roads, Louisiana.
WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge said the crash was reported around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Olinde and Main streets.
Officials told the TV station that the Mardi Gras float hit a phone line as it was making a turn, which then caused the top of the float to rip off.
Investigators also said the float had too many riders when the crash happened.
WBRZ-TV reported that two people were taken to a hospital.
