First lady Melania Trump on Wednesday revealed to a hospitalized child her favorite part of the role of first lady was connecting with young people like her.
Trump made the comments to Amber Negrete, 8, of California, during a special Valentine's Day visit to the National Institutes of Health's Children’s Inn in Bethesda, Md., according to pool reports.
Negrete suffers from giant axonal neuropathy, a neurodegenerative disorder that affects the peripheral and central nervous systems.
Trump spent the afternoon decorating holiday-themed cookies, as well as making and exchanging Valentine's cards and gifts with patients between the ages of 4 and 25, who are staying at the nonprofit residence as they take part in clinical trials.
A little boy also gave Trump a Valentine's Day bag.
