A New Jersey official resigned his position over an inflammatory Facebook post that likened illegal immigrants to rabid raccoons.
Rick Blood, the deputy mayor of Mendham Township, N.J., resigned from his position on Monday after the post went viral.
Other parts of the post called the U.S. “weak,” and alleged that our “enemies” are making fun of us.
The Daily Record, which reported the news, said that Blood’s resignation came at the end of an “emotional Township Committee meeting” where he was accused by township residents of racism and more.
Blood changed his tune shortly after facing more than two dozen angry residents who called his remarks “vile,” inherently racist,” and “disgusting.”
