Attorney General Jeff Sessions justified the firing of James Comey and offered that more terminations might be the consequence of the Investigator General’s report set to be released Thursday.
“I think it will be a lengthy report and a careful report,” Sessions said.
The investigation will cover allegations that the announcement from James Comey, the FBI Director at the time, did not follow FBI guidelines, whether the Deputy FBI Director should have recused himself from the investigation into Russian collusion, and whether “Department and FBI employees improperly disclosed non-public information.”
Sessions also defended the firing of James Comey by the President Donald Trump.
Sessions himself came under fire recently from Republican lawmakers when he defended Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein from accusations that he improperly threatened staffers of the House Intelligence Committee.
