The way Trump ‘humiliated’ Tillerson was ‘cruel and unnecessary,’ says A.B. Stoddard

Stoddard, the associate editor of Real Clear Politics, said that it was a “really dark day” for the country because of the way President Trump fired Rex Tillerson from the State Department in such a humiliating way.

“Apart from Pompeo and Haspel and people who are going to take these positions,” Stoddard said, “how little Rex Tillerson we miss at the State Department, how long this was coming, it was obviously untenable and a president and a Secretary of State can’t disagree that much on policy.”

Stoddard made her comments on Special Report on Fox News Tuesday.

It was unclear exactly how Tillerson was fired on Tuesday after numerous differing accounts and reports, but one account was that the former Exxon executive learned about his fate when the president tweeted it from his social media account.
